Amsterdam School
The Amsterdam School was a movement in architecture that originated in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from 1910 to 1930. It was part of the international Expressionist architecture movement, and is sometimes linked to German Brick Expressionism.
The Amsterdam School is characterized by its use of brick, often in intricate patterns, as well as its expressive forms and decorative details. Buildings in the Amsterdam School style often have rounded or undulating facades, towers, and ornamental spires. They are also often decorated with sculptures and other forms of art.
The Amsterdam School was influenced by a variety of sources, including Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and the work of Dutch architect Hendrik Berlage. was also influenced by the socialist ideals of the time, and many Amsterdam School buildings were designed as working-class housing estates.
